Abstract: Both in Lakota and English How do successful implementation strategies of selected immersion programs compare to the strategies at the Porcupine Head Start Program? The Lakota people are experiencing a language loss; Indigenous people worldwide are losing their native languages; in fact, some languages have become extinct. However, a movement to revive languages has begun. One of the movements is through immersion programs. There are different types of immersion programs, but the focus of this study is the concept of a partial immersion program at the Porcupine Head Start Program on the Pine Ridge Reservation. The participants are the children four to five years of age, parents, and teachers.
